Still Around

I just realized it’s been, oh, a month and a half since I last posted anything here. So, I’m still alive. I’ve been busy recovering from a year of having no free time, and summer is the ONLY time I get to do anything at home.

This means it’s time to paint the apartment, clean up the hardwood floors, and get other things in order. The painting is done in 3 rooms—what a chore taking things down, moving furniture, painting, putting things back, all the while cleaning as I went along.

There’s also the landscaping. “But you live in an apartment?” Yes. But they won’t do anything beyond semi-ghetto, so I will. There are three azaleas, lots of bulbs, and a 4 daisies in the front. All will come back every year, and look better each year. You know, in case I’m there for a while. In the back, the big splurge: a rhododendron, some astilbes, hostas, and ivy. Again, all stuff that’ll come back every year and get better with age.

There’s a lot of work to do, but I refuse to pay $1000 a month to live in a borderline slum. 🙂 Next I’ll be planting a few things around the other balconies around me. They’ll like it or move. 😀 (Really, I’ll ask first.)

Hmm. What else. I’m still playing with the camera. Got a few nice shots recently that will EVENTUALLY make it to the photography page.

I’ve also been planning the usual summer get-together coming up. It’s all southern picnic food. Kind of like a big family reunion in the 70s. That’s all I’ll say. Too bad for those not invited, and those invited who can’t come. 🙂

Other than that, I’ve just been relaxing and recovering from the academic horrors of the last year.

More later.
