A Simple Update

Well, lets see. Lots of fun since my last post. I did go down to Mississippi for a few days on Amtrak’s Crescent in late December/early January. If you live near a train line, I highly recommend it for short trips—it’s a lot more relaxed than dealing with traffic, parking, snotty kids, and rude adults at the airports.

There are some pictures on my phonecam page that cover some of the travels, though I got NO pictures of places in Mississippi. I did get a few family pictures, but they won’t be posted on my website. All in all, some nice visits, but very little rest.

It was cold while I was down. I left 60-degree Delaware, was welcomed with 22 degree high temperatures on a few days, 40s on others. I got back in Delaware just in time for 60 degree weather here again. So I traveled SOUTH to enjoy the cold. Talk about discombobulation! Brookhaven Snow, Jan. 19, 2008.

Just this past weekend, little Brookhaven, Mississippi was treated with a bit of snow! Wish I had been there for that! I’m pretty sure all the bottled water, milk, and bread would have been ripped from the store shelves, except that I hear this was a surprise to most. I hope everyone got up early to enjoy it, as it was mostly gone by afternoon–and it really was pretty from the pictures I’ve seen!

I start back at Rosemont tomorrow. So of course that means I’ll be scarce for a while as I juggle full-time work, two graduate classes, and part-time work at graduate school. I survived fall, so I think I’ll manage for spring. I am surely feeling the need for a REAL vacation though…and I am quickly getting too old for all of this!

And on that note, I’m planning a getaway to Ricketts Glen up in northern Pennsylvania in early fall—just in time for the leaves! It should be peaceful and refreshing. The property is dotted with dozens of waterfalls, is not too large, and is not widely known. So keep it a secret, so I can enjoy some peace and quiet.

That’s all from the Charlie camp.

  1. The snow at my house was NOT mostly gone by afternoon. As a matter of fact I still had sizeable patches on Tuesday!!!!!

And Claire little snowman didn’t melt ’til Tuesday afternoon!

Over 2″ at my house. WHEEEEEEEEE

  2. “Patches” would mean “mostly gone,” just not ALL gone. I could say “all the clean snow was gone within hours.” (I’ve seen a few dirty snowmen online from that day!) I did see that it was COLD down there that day though, and it mainly melted where the sun hit. I watched the snow melt all day on the webcam. Yeah, I was bored!

And we still have patches of snow lingering from… hmm. 2 weeks ago? And they’re getting a bit right now in southern Delaware. They can keep it… I’m not in the mood for it today.
