Mental Masturbation

Okay. I admit it. I have a problem.

I have to be mentally stimulated all the time. I can’t just watch TV…I have to be on the internet or reading at the same time. I can’t just work on one project, but must check the news, weather, or even map something in a different window. I can’t even finish a long email (or blog) without getting distracted and pulling up something else to read or watch. My brain is… Read More ➤

The Essence of Things

I’ve come to realize that I really don’t like to just take pretty pictures or videos. I prefer to capture the essence of things, either what makes them tick or what makes them unique.

Just this past Saturday, I was in New York City, the greatest city in the world. I took a point-and-shoot Canon that takes great photos, with great optical zoom even. I also took my Sony Webbie, a 5.0 megapixel, fixed-lens camera to take video. I was surrounded by landmarks on more than a few occasions. I saw the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and Grand Central Station. It was non-stop New York.

And what did I capture? Only… Read More ➤

I’d Like to Thank Google.

Obviously, I’ve been missing from the blog world, but that’s nothing new. I’ve disappeared before, whether from being too busy with work and school, or just too bored to post. But this time, I’d like to thank Google. Yes, Google.

When I was new to blogging, I first tried Xanga. It was nothing more than a “cutesy” kind of place, with most blogs ranging from Jesus to bubblegum, or so it seemed. But Blogger!? Blogger allowed me to have my blog on MY website. It could be fully integrated–seamless in style and structure. I could… Read More ➤

Change is Natural.

There is just something about the autumn colors that touches the soul. It’s nature having the courage and grace to accept change! We could all learn from that. Change is natural.

We have lunatics screaming that everything is perfect—just because they’re afraid of change. People keep jobs they hate—just because they are afraid of change. People stay in abusive or unhappy relationships—just because they’re afraid of change.

What’s our f*cking problem? Seriously. We’re… Read More ➤

Teabagger, thy name is Hypocrisy.

So, the Teabaggers were at it again last weekend, rallying around half-truths and hypocrisy to make themselves feel better about their blind hatred of the President. The half-truths are well documented, so I won’t even go there. But why hypocrisy?

First, much of the protest and resistance to all things “socialist” are predominantly centered in Republican stronghold states. So? Most of these states receive far more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes, so they can’t even argue that their tax dollars will be spent on this or that. They aren’t PAYING any federal taxes.

In 2005, the last year for which data is compiled, Alabama received… Read More ➤

Time keeps ticking…

So summer is drawing to a close. No fanfare here, as I didn’t do much anyway, and I’m tiring of the heat! I did get some great practice in with the camera.I saw a total of two butterflies on campus this summer, and the timing was right for me to immortalize them in the digital world. The two female “eastern swallowtails” posed nicely for me. Either that or they were just that hungry! The male Monarch was a pain in the butt, but I finally got him! I guess some ladies out there would say “of course the male was more difficult.” We are a stubborn lot, that’s for sure.

The only trip I took this summer was to… Read More ➤
