The end is near…

On Tuesday I’ll embark on my final journey at UD. My last semester. My last two classes as an undergrad. My last two classes with juvenile, flip-flop wearing, cellphone yapping, gum-chewing, slutty dressed, over-perfumed, superficial, AbercrombieZombie, Ugg-wearing, sex-starved dingbats. Will I miss that? Hell no.

I’ve been on the verge of screaming at the little brats for a long time, wanting to break their spirit by telling them their life will amount to little more than unhappy marriages, debt, and taxes.

I’ll miss UD though. Sure I’ll still… Read More ➤

¡Salsamba!

So I went to a concert this past Friday night. Mind you, I haven’t been to a concert of any sort in, um, 13 years almost. That was the Go-Gos for $7 at UD back in 1993. This time it was Salsamba, a Latin jazz group from Pittsburgh. Only $5 for students ($12 for faculty/staff, and $15 for everyone else). This was by far the best entertainment I’ve had in years.

I like jazz in general, though I think I’d tire of sitting for 2 hours with regular jazz. Latin jazz is quite another story. This is “feel good music,” and… Read More ➤

Where’s Glenn?

In case someone wonders where I am, my face is in a book for about 75% of my waking hours. The harsh reality of my semester has just set in, though there’s little I can do about it if I want to graduate in May. At any rate, this is what I’m up to:

Anthropology 487: Tutorial in Archaeology—This is one of the two required “capstone” courses for majors in Anthropology. (The other will be… Read More ➤

Procrastination pays!

So there is this horrid requirement for my Political Science minor that I’ve put off until the last minute. The class is “Data Analysis for Political Science.” Yep, statistics—though mild, statistics nonetheless. I was planning to take it in either Winter Session or Spring Semester—at the very last possible time before graduation.

I’ve been worried about this class since I added the minor—not because I couldn’t pass it, but because I would be sure to get a B or lower. I need as many A’s as possible to get my GPA up to a 3.0 before finishing—it’s currently 2.969! The class is also a burden—meeting every single day, usually at… Read More ➤

Grad School

Okay, it’s getting rather close to time to choose a grad school… since I’m now entering my final year at UD.

I could probably beg my way into UD. They require a 3.5 GPA overall, and a 3.5 GPA for all English courses. I have over a 3.5 in my English courses, but will likely barely make a 3.0 overall. The GRE would be important—and I’ve Read More ➤

Hot, Scalding and Delicious Life

Okay, so I love occasionally stopping by Einstein Bagels in Greenville before work. But why, oh, why can’t I make it into the library without spilling my delicious hazelnut vanilla coffee all over myself? Perhaps this is a metaphor for life. We can enjoy life, have nice things, or do things we quite enjoy—but very often we’ll spill it all over ourselves and everything around us. In other words, life is messy.

In the last few months, God knows some silly and crazy shit has come my way, and those who know me know most of it so I won’t elaborate. The latest, though, is in retrospect quite… Read More ➤
